David

Jason

Spoon handles provide a wonderful plane for experimenting with texture. I began making spoons for babies, among them my grandchildren David and Jason. Soon people began requesting special spoons and an entire family has arisen. Some are named for the original recipient, others for their function.

I have been fascinated with creating textures in metal. By altering the surface the otherwise rigid material assumes a sensuous and lively character. I search for and often incorporate material I find in nature into my pieces. When walking on the beach, in the garden or on New York City sidewalks I fill my pockets with treasures for my workbench.
